The Self Liquidating Funnel

The Self Liquidating Funnel has been around a while but it's worth looking at or simply incorporation the concept into your marketing toolbox. This sort of funnel has worked for lots of marketers including me. The principles are easy to follow and it's quite a clever way to pay for the advertising that drives the traffic to your offer in the first place.

Why is it called a Self Liquidating Funnel? Simply because it enables you to pay for your marketing costs with a low cost, high perceived value product within the funnel.

I have to say that it doesn't work for absolutely everyone. The offer has to be right and congruent with the overall feel of the marketing and your brand. Watch the video for the principles and I'll go into more depth.

In the video I walk through the Self Liquidating Funnel concept, which is simple in principle, but you really need to think about how it would sit with your audience. Most of the time it fits well and here;s the psychology....

If you get a click through from an ad, giving away an ebook, cheatsheet or video series, you can be confident that the person who's come through from that ad is very interested in the solution you're offering.

Now, if that's the case, once they have signed up for your free offer there is no reason why a great 90% off, one time offer can not be placed in front of them as shown in the video. It has to be congruent with the offer of the free product in the ad but as I say there is no reason not to put an offer out there.

If you have the offer right, you'll find a percentage of people who wanted your free information will purchase the offer.

What this means in real terms is that you now have a very good chance of paying for the ads you place. If you find that because of your OTO (One Time Offer) your advertising cost are being paid for by the money you are making on the OTO then you can now increase your ad spend. It means you can scale up knowing that your ad cost are being covered by the money made on the OTO. So start to slowly scale up your ad spend and really start to pull in the leads.

What this means in real terms is that you can start to really ramp up the number of leads coming into the business which you can now follow up on. This is the main reason for using marketing automation software so you can create two different automation sequences. One automation sequence for people who purchased the OTO and one for those who declined the offer.
